A simple way to test this is start a new puzzle, then enter a number in a box that isn't legal (it already appears in the row or column), and hit F5. It doesn't replace the wrong number entered, just errors and says its unsolvable. The difficulty is not given by the number of digits in the sudoku problem, but on the relative difficulty of the problem itself. However, the problem generation is actually crap and something I should rewrite whenever I find the time to do it. ;)

This is very strange :( I can’t think of a way this could happen, but I’ll check.
