Image Library for .NET
I’ve written a small wrap around the DevIL image library .
It allows any .NET program (VB.NET, C#, etc) to open and save files in all formats supported by the DevIL library (most notably it can open PSD, PSP, TGA and DDS - yes it can directly open Photoshop files ;)). Also it opens them as System.Drawing.Bitmap objects, so that it works optimally with existing code.
Also it is very simple to use.
UPDATE :
Minor bugfix, and uploaded samples of C# and VB.NET code
.NET Type Viewer
I’ve uploaded a page with a small utility I’ve written yesterday in about 2 hours to solve a problem I had with some code of mine.
.NET Type Viewer is a small program using reflection to inspect .NET modules, with special power features for mixed mode DLLs.
A battle is won, the war is not over.
As most of you already know, yesterday the EU parliament struck down software patents, with an incredible number of opposite votes (something like 648 vs 14).
This win however is a battle and the war is not over yet, for two reasons. First, by completely rejecting the law instead of fixing it in some way, the national patent offices are still able to file pure software patents for their nation. Second, the need of a law which rules over such issues has not disappeared; some other law will be made from scratch and discussed again and the problem will be there again in a few years; note that such a great number of no (648) means that a good part of the people who wanted software patents voted against this law anyway for a simple reason : it was clear that amendements should be added to the proposed law to fix it, and while the “anti-sw-patents” voted no because they feared they would not be able to put amendements, the “pro-sw-patents” voted no because they feared the nature of these amendements.
But it’s still a victory. Let’s celebrate ![]()
